Embark on the Voyage

In most cases, you will have been invited to join a Royal Ark Mariner Lodge by a member of that Lodge or you will have approached a member of a Royal Ark Mariner Lodge and asked him to propose you. Please don’t be shy about asking.

Your proposer will provide you with a Form of Application for Elevation (aka Schedule 2) which he can obtain from his Lodge Scribe. On this form you are agreeing to obey the Constitution of the UGLMMMV, conform to the Regulations of the Fraternity and observe the Regulations of the RAM Lodge you are applying to join.

Your proposer will hand your completed application form to the Lodge Scribe who will give notice of it on the Lodge Summons.

A ballot will be held and, if successful, you will be elevated into the Royal Ark Mariner Degree. Elevations often happen on the same night as the ballot.

Prior to the Elevation Ceremony, you will be asked to sign a Declaration by Candidate for Elevation and pay the necessary dues.

Ensure that regalia – an apron, sash and a jewel – has been arranged for you and that the apron has been adjusted to fit around your waist.

The Elevation Ceremony is a beautiful one. You will be accompanied every step of the way by an Officer of the Lodge so relax and enjoy it.

Like the Mark, there is only the one Ceremony in the Royal Ark Mariner Degree so you are entitled to a copy of the ritual after you have completed that Ceremony. Please read it while the memories of your Elevation are still fresh in your mind.
